Leah Rice is an artist and printmaker living on the island. She also works and volunteer for an environmental charity. She initially trained as a mechanical engineer and loves solving problems and design, but is drawn to the natural and human environment in he life and work. She has a rambling garden that needs a lot of work and took a permaculture design certificate four years ago to that end. The garden is still a mess but Leah would like to think that permaculture has helped her see how beautiful the world is, and can be.
Leah will be curating a creativity workshop in the Zen Zone on Saturday.
Making Shapes Creativity Workshop
This session will start with an informal chat about shapes and patterns in art and nature. Creativity can be explored through imaginative and systematic pattern making. In abstract art, we will discuss how they have been used to connect spiritually and even predict the future.
We will use our bodies to create pattern, with big gestures and bold marks or delicately with detail. Make or throw the shapes you want to and work together to create a collaborative, beautiful, totally natural piece of art.
