We will be collecting for Bloody Good Period at The Awakening

Bloody Good Period is a charitable project that provides period supplies and toiletries to asylum seekers, refugees and those who can't afford them, and we will be collecting sanitary products from donations made by our guests at The Awakening weekend.

We are currently in the midst of the greatest refugee crisis since the Second World War. According to the UNHCR, an estimated 65 million people worldwide have been forced to flee their homes –roughly the same as the entire population of the UK.

Period poverty hit the national headlines earlier this year, shocking people across the UK and mobilising thousands to take action. Meanwhile, asylum seekers in the UK receive just £36.95 a week to live off of, which means that items such as food end up prioritised over other essentials such as sanitary items and period supplies.

We will collecting a selection of sanitary products toothbrushes and toothpaste at The Awakening which will be donated to Bloody Good Period who will provide them to drop-ins and organisations they support, free of charge.

If you can’t physically make a donation, you can make a financial donation to Bloody Good Period here. Or on their website here. Just mention that you saw it through The Awakening website :)

If you are coming to The Awakening, we will be sending you out details of what we’re collecting for Bloody Good Period shortly.
